Learn Synthesis and Production
Beginner-friendly, live online synthesis and production course, with a focus on composition and sound design for audiovisual media and art. A total of 24 hours worth of live lessons plus access to a trove of additional materials, prompts, examples, assignments, and references.
Who is it meant for?
For anyone looking to learn synthesis and production techniques, incorporate them into their musical or audiovisual practice, and broaden their composition and production toolbox.
Although it’s designed for students with little to no prior synthesizer experience, it is also packed with helpful material for those who do have some knowledge of synthesis and are looking to deepen their foundations, sharpen their skills and explore an audiovisual focus.
How long is the course? When does it start?
The course consists of 12 weekly two-hour live Zoom lessons. The schedule is the following:
FALL 2025: Every Saturday at 2:00PM U.S. Eastern/11:00AM U.S. Pacific, starting September 6th 2025.
What if I can’t watch the live lessons?
All lessons are recorded. The course includes access to a Google Drive where all lesson recordings will be uploaded, along with additional course materials. The lesson recordings will be available for the duration of the course and for 3 months after the course ends.
The course also includes access to a Discord server where you’ll be able to connect with the group, ask questions and receive feedback.
What do I need?
All you need is a computer and internet access. We’ll be using free downloadable tools like VCV Rack and Vital. It is helpful to have access to a Digital Audio Workstation and a MIDI controller, but they’re not 100% necessary.
No prior knowledge of synthesis or production is needed.
